Unique and non traditional weddings are on the rise, but there are still some hot new trends that will make an appearance a lot this year. If you are planning a wedding this year, going to a wedding this year, or just love weddings as much as I do, you will more than likely see some of these trends as you or your friends say "I Do".
1. Simple Gowns
Thanks to Megan and Harry, minimalist wedding gowns are flying off the shelves. These gowns are elegantly simple and tend to highlight the bride herself as there are fewer embellishments to distract from her beautiful smile or tears of joy.
2. Non Traditional Wedding Rings
White diamonds will never go out of style. However, black diamonds, coloured stones, and unique rings are becoming a huge hit. Weather it's to symbolize your heritage, your love story or your personality, non traditional rings are in.
3. Bringing the Outdoors Indoors
Natural leafy centrepieces have been a big trend for a few years now, however, mother nature is starting to make her way into other aspects of the wedding day. Expect to see wheat, grasses, berries and other foliage on tables, archways, bouquets and on top of wedding cakes.
4. Blushes and Tan
Soft pinks were huge last year and I saw this colour in almost every wedding I shot. This year I am sure to see more blush and tan tones in wedding party attire and decorations. Still soft and subtle colours, just more of an earth-tone pallet.
Some say balloons should be reserved for birthdays and not weddings, and although I tend to agree to some degree, balloons are making a comeback into wedding decor. There are some beautiful decor ideas for centrepieces, archways, wall decor, dance floors, ceilings and of course, just for fun. Again, soft colours like blush, golds and tans are big in this area as well. And you can never go wrong with white.
I am excited to start my wedding season and can not wait to see all these trends. But no matter if the weddings I photograph are "trendy" or not, I am sure they will all be beautifully wonderful days, filled with joy, laughter, love, and cake! :)
