You heard it in the way they talked to each other with tenderness. You could see it whenever they touched. You could feel it in the air whenever they were near. Love was all around.
Jojo and Kevin were an absolute joy to meet and work with. Their kindness, compassion, sense of humor and easy going attitudes made my job of photographing their wedding a delightful experience from our first meeting to our final goodbyes. When Jojo shared their plans with me at our consultation, I got really excited. Not only was the venue, Hillside Winery & Bistro, one I love to photograph at, but they added so many personal touches and gave me some unique firsts.
The house they stayed at to get ready the morning of the wedding was truly beautiful. Lots of natural light and beautiful views of our small city. While they were getting ready, the entire wedding party celebrated with a bottle of bubbly. After, the men resided downstairs while the ladies stayed upstairs to do hair and makeup. Once she was ready, Jojo put on a lovely red dress as a reflection of her heritage. Also in honour of her heritage, Jojo, Kevin and both sets of parents took part in a traditional Tea Ceremony celebrating the marriage that was about to take place.
When the wedding started, Jojos friend and bridesmaid, played a violin and serenaded everyone down the aisle. Jojo truly looked like an angel in her beautiful flowing gown. They spoke the sweetest vows to each other and sealed them with a kiss. Family and friends shared in their joy and the rest of the night was filled with lots of joy and laughter and dancing.
I have said it before, but I left that evening feeling as though I made some wonderful new friends. After spending all day with them, it is easy to see why. I will treasure the time I got to spend with Jojo and Kevin and hope to see them again.
